Cooking with Tofu
It’s easy to make Tofu delicious. Although there are many ways to prepare it, my favorite way is to cube and marinate it in asian inspired flavors. Below are some simple tips to preparing tofu and some delicious foods to accompany it with.
Preparation:
Try cubing extra firm tofu and marinating for a few minutes in a mixture of grated ginger, grated garlic and soya sauce. Heat a frying pan to medium/high with olive oil. Add the marinated tofu and sear all four sides so they are crisp and golden.
Try slicing it into long rectangles and sliding the strips onto a wooden skewer (make sure you soak skewers in warm water). Mix together, chili powder, cumin, corriander and salt and pepper. Grill tofu on a grill or bbq.
Slice it in long rectangles. Brush with sesame oil and press sesame seeds onto all four sides. Place in a preheated oven at 375 degrees and bake until golden. You can prepare a satay to dip tofu in by mixing peanut butter, lime juice, soya sauce, dash of sesame seed oil, tsp olive oil and some finely chopped garlic.
Tofu goes well with:
Red peppers
Green peppers
Baby bok choy
Celery and carrots
